Bet on the NFLNFL betting lines handicappers will have one of the greatest NFL betting rivalry matchups to evaluate in week one as the New York Giants host the Washington Redskins. NFL betting lines opened with the Giants as 6.5-point favorites with a NFL betting over/under total of 37 as the NFC east division race kicks off in style.

The Washington Redskins enter action against the NFL betting lines under considerable scrutiny and facing their share of NFL betting skeptics after a lackluster 1-3 preseason which followed a poor finish to the 2008 NFL football betting campaign in which they beat the NFL betting lines in just 2 out of their last 11 games.

Head coach Jim Zorn will be facing the fire right away if the Redskins stumble out of the gate against the NFL betting lines.  Zorn, a former NFL quarterback, was expected to perk up the offense but that has not been the case thus far against the NFL betting lines.  Washington had a weak preseason as they ranked a poor 27th in scoring.

The New York Giants also closed badly last year against the NFL betting lines and were upset at home in the playoffs against the upstart Philadelphia Eagles.  There is some doubt lingering about just how good quarterback Eli Manning really is as he was ineffective at the end of last season against the NFL betting lines.  It will be important for Manning to click early for the Giants to re-establish their confidence as a super bowl contender.  Manning was decent but not dominant in the preseason with a quarterback rating of 85.4 after a 2008 regular season in which he finished with an 86.4.  Keep in mind that in the Giants super bowl title season of 2007 Manning’s QB rating was only 73.9.

Last year the Giants won and covered both of their games against the
NFL betting lines versus the Redskins and the favorite has gotten the cash in 7 out of the last 9 head to head meetings between the teams.  Washington has covered just 2 out of their last 11 season openers and the Giants have covered 18 out of their last 23 games overall.
