Bet on the NBATwo of the best teams in the NBA's Western Conference met in San Antonio on Sunday afternoon, both of which have been enjoying tremendous success since the All-Star Break. The San Antonio Spurs easily rolled over the Miami Heat last week, while the Los Angeles Lakers have been undefeated since All-Star Weekend.

The Spurs were looking to win their fourth straight game against the Lakers, while Los Angeles has been 7-0 since coming back from the break. But in the end, Kobe Bryant and the Lakers dismantled San Antonio, coming out to an early lead and ending the game with a 16-point margin of victoy. The total score was 99-83.

The Lakers were up 34-13 by the end of the first quarter, and things never really got better for the Spurs. By halftime, the Lakers were up 65-37, in one of their best games of the year. Bryant, who finished the game with 26 points, agreed that the game may have been Los Angeles' best showing of the 2010-2011 season.

While San Antonio still has a 6 ½ game lead with less than 20 games left to play in the regular season, the reigning champion Lakers showed the Spurs that there is still some fierce competition in the West, and that the path to the NBA Finals is not going to be easy for San Antonio. This game ended the Spurs 22-game winning streak on their home court.

But the Spurs should not be counted out, either. Both teams are capable of having extremely strong performances, and the Spurs proved that a couple days earlier with a 30-point victory over the Miami Heat.

The Lakers have been trailing the Spurs all season and many have doubted whether they are still able to compete at the highest levels of the NBA with an aging team. Sunday's win in San Antonio proved that the Lakers can still come out and dominate the best teams in the league.
