UFC 101 Declaration from Philadelphia has an attractive mixed martial arts lineup of feature bouts including the light heavyweight championship. UFC 101 handicapping will focus on that title bout between BJ “The Prodigy” Penn and Kenny “KenFlo” Florian who are in the 155 pound mixed martial arts class.
BJ Penn enters UFC 101Declaration having never lost in the 155 pound class. “The Prodigy” hails from Hawaii and has the mixed martial arts reputation for strong submissions. Penn enters UFC 101 Declaration coming off a loss from the welterweight division as he was defeated by Georges St-Pierre in a technical knock out on January 31. Prior to that loss he added to his UFC 101 Declaration credentials with three consecutive wins. On May 24, 2008 he defeated Sean Sherk by technical knock out. Florian enters UFC 101 Declaration with a career mark of 13-3. The Massachusetts native is known for great jiu-jitsu and for his dangerous elbows. Florian has the hot hand entering UFC 101 Declaration as he has won 6 consecutive bouts. His last fight prior to this UFC 101matchup was on November 15 when he defeated Joe Stevenson by submission choke at the 4:03 mark of the first round. On August 9 of last year he scored a unanimous decision win over Roger Huerta. On April 2, 2008 Florian defeated Joe Lauzon by technical knock out.
The co-feature bout features Anderson “The Spider” Silva going up against Forrest Griffin in the 205 pound class. Spilva hails from Brazil and is 24-4 in his career. He has won his last 9 bouts dating back to June of 2006 and is coming off an April 18 unanimous decision win over Thales Leites. Silva is a strong striker and one of the better balanced fighters.
Griffin fights out of Las Vegas, Nevada and is 16-5 for his career. He lost his last bout on December 27 to Rashad Evans by technical knock out which snapped a 3 bout winning streak.
