Bet on the UFCThis Saturday night, Nick Diaz will attempt to defend his Strikeforce Welterweight Title against challenger Paul Daley in the most anticipated MMA fight of the week.
The Diaz-Daley matchup should be an interesting fight to watch and should live up to the hype surrounding the two fighters. Daley is an incredibly quick fighter with strong hitting power and may have the advantage if the fight is held standing up for long periods of time. Diaz, however, has the advantage on the ground and could win by submission.
Daley, though, should look for the knockout over Diaz. His ground game is not as strong and Diaz could dominate him. Daley's advantage is in his striking speed and power, and he will have to rely on those to get him through the bout. No one has scored a decisive win by way of knockout over Diaz since Jeremy Jackson in 2002.
Getting a knockout as quickly as possible is Daley's one hope on Saturday. The second he starts looking tired and fatigued, Diaz will have him in a submission hold faster than you can blink. Daley better have his cardio training up to speed, because he may need to survive a 25 minute fight if Diaz is able to drag it out that long. And if it goes that long, Diaz will capitalize on any sign of fatigue.
Daley needs this win to secure a future in the world of MMA. If he can get the victory this weekend, he will have better negotiating leverage for financial rewards in the future. So the pressure on the fighter will be even greater than if he was just fighting for the title. And title fights are the most stressful in the sport. Daley's loss at UFC 113 to Josh Koscheck resulted in his being kicked out of UFC events.
