NHL finals odds for game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals between Pittsburgh and Detroit are loaded with sports betting angles and opportunities. NHL finals odds will favor the home standing Red Wings, of course, but Pittsburgh has plenty to offer sports betting fans who want a “live dog.”
The first key to handicapping this game against the NHL finals odds is acknowledging that the Detroit Red Wings have the better and deeper roster along with the better defense, not to mention the home ice advantage. The Pittsburgh Penguins, on the other hand, have the top 2 players in the NHL and those two centers, Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, make for one of the most dynamic duos in all of sports betting.
The health of Detroit defensemen Niklas Lidstrom is a point of concern for Red Wing backers against the NHL finals odds. When Lidstrom is healthy he makes Detroit one of the elite teams against the NHL finals odds but when he is out or less than 100% Detroit quickly comes down from their perch as the best team in the league. Lidstrom makes the Red Wings defense the ultimate asset against the NHL finals odds and defense is what a team needs to defeat the high scoring Penguins with Crosby and Malkin. Getting into a shootout with Pittsburgh is not the best way to go about beating them.
Another key in handicapping the NHL finals odds will be Pittsburgh goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury. He must be at his absolute peak level against Red Wings if the Penguins are to have a chance. Pittsburgh’s blue line is not as strong as Detroit’s which means that Fleury will be asked to do more than the norm in order for the Penguins to win.
Fleury’s counterpart against the NHL finals odds is Detroit’s Chris Osgood, who is having an outstanding post season. Osgood must continue his stellar play and will have to come up with better than usual saves against the Malkin/Crosby combination.
As good as Detroit’s defense has been, it is not as good as last year’s unit that beat the NHL finals odds for the Cup. The Wings allowed 60 more goals this year than they did last year.

Bet on the MLBGamblers might feel compelled to place their baseball bets on San Francisco. Rival evaluators who scouted the Giants’ offensive work during spring training all left thinking the same thing; pitchers from opposing teams will have to dig deep. Similar to the Kansas City Royals of the previous two years, the Giants are not known for striking out too often.
