NFL preseason action always features a lot of playing time for backup quarterbacks but the NFC may see some regular starters get a lot of sports betting action. NFL preseason handicapping will offer a potential sports betting advantage with the Chicago Bears as they break in Jay Cutler, who arrived from the Denver Broncos.
Cutler would normally see very little NFL preseason playing time as he is an established pro bowl sports betting commodity. But after his ugly split with the Broncos during the off season he may need more time to learn the Bears offensive system and may need additional snaps in the exhibition games that he would not get under normal NFL betting circumstances.
The Minnesota Vikings have the potential for quite a quarterback circus depending on whether or not Brett Favre comes out of retirement. If Favre does play it will change the NFL preseason dynamics for the Vikings as they will be shuttling in 3 different quarterbacks during exhibition play, all of whom have their share of playing experience.
The Detroit Lions will offer rookie Matt Stafford plenty of NFL preseason playing time as he is not expected to be the starter. But if Stafford shows well and proves to be a quick study he might be able to steal the starting gig during the NFL preseason. He will certainly be motivated. Detroit’s other quarterbacks are seasoned and that makes them a potentially strong NFL preseason value. Keep in mind the Lions were undefeated in the NFL preseason last year before going 0-16 when it counted!
The New York Giants are another team that will not want to expose their quarterback to injury for the NFL preseason Eli Manning will serve a lot of time on the sideline which will open up playing time for David Carr and Andre Woodson.
The Dallas Cowboys are another team that will likely give motivated backups plenty of snaps. Jon Kitna and Brad Johnson are veterans that might matchup well against less experienced teams. The teams with the best backups are often the best values in the NFL exhibition slate. Kickoff is a month away so don’t be caught unprepared.
Bet on the MLBGamblers might feel compelled to place their baseball bets on San Francisco. Rival evaluators who scouted the Giants’ offensive work during spring training all left thinking the same thing; pitchers from opposing teams will have to dig deep. Similar to the Kansas City Royals of the previous two years, the Giants are not known for striking out too often.
