Soccer betting will turn its attention to the UEFA Final as Shakhtar Donetsk of Ukraine will meet Germany's Werder Bremen for the Cup in Istanbul. Soccer betting will see the 38th and final edition of the UEFA Final Cup as Shakhtar goes for its first European Trophy while SV Werder Bremen goes for its second cup.
Shakhtar will be attempting to become the first Ukrainian team in soccer betting to win the UEFA Final Cup. If Bremen succeeds it will be the seventh time that a German team takes this soccer betting event. That would also make the German Bundesliga the second most successful league in soccer betting for this event.
This is the first time that Shakhtar will be playing in a European Final soccer betting event. The best that they had done prior to this event was to make the final sixteen, which they did on three occasions with the last being in 2005-06.
Bremen last won this soccer betting event in 1991-92 and their current coach, Thomas Schaaf, was a member of that team that went on to beat AS Monaco FC in a 2-0 shutout win.
Shakhtar has a soccer betting record against German clubs of 4 wins, 2 draws, 3 losses with 10 goals for and 10 goals against in those 9 matches. They have gone unbeaten in their last 3 games against German competition, all under coach Mircea Lucescu, who was a UEFA Super Cup winner in 2000 while in charge of Galatasaray AS.
Bremen has a soccer betting record against Ukrainian clubs of 2 wins, 1 draw, 1 loss, with 14 goals for and 6 goals against in those 4 matches. Schaaf is the longest serving coach currently in the Bundesliga as he has been with Bremen since 1999. He spent 17 years as a defender for the team prior to taking the reigns as coach.
This will be the first match in UEFA club competition between the teams.
A major point of concern will be that Bremen's Diego has been banned from the Final, which is a significant offensive loss.
