NHL wagering fans have been surprised with the Florida Panthers while being alarmed at the recent hockey wagering woes of the New York Rangers. When the NHL wagering season began the Florida Panthers were something of an after thought.
The Panthers have not had a lot of success in the past few hockey wagering campaigns and there was little reason to expect a playoff run but that is exactly what has transpired. Florida had an overall NHL wagering mark of 29-21-2-6 straight up and 30-28 against the line.
The Panthers NHL wagering strength is their defense which was ranked 6th best in the league. The offense was ranked in the middle of the pack at 16th. A February 19 home loss to the high flying Chicago Blackhawks, (0-4), was just the 3rd NHL wagering loss for Florida in 9 games.
Goaltender Tomas Vokoun had a stellar save percentage of .925 and a tidy goals against average of 2.47. His backup, Craig Anderson, had similar numbers to give the Panthers one of the best net minding combos in the NHL. David Booth was Florida’s leading goal scorer with 20 while Stephen Weiss led in points with 41, which included 31 assists.
The New York Rangers have been in a NHL wagering free fall as of late as their 29th ranked offense is finally catching up with them.
The Rangers had one of the best records in the league for most of the hockey wagering season but their inability to score has begun to seriously erode that record and their potential for a spot in the NHL wagering post season.
The Broadway Blueshirts hoped that their 3-1 win over the rival NY Islanders on February 18 would turn the NHL wagering tide but that was just the 2nd time in 10 games that the Rangers scored 3 goals or more. New York’s NHL wagering strength has been their 8th ranked defense.
