NHL Playoffs action resumes Wednesday with a game 4 hockey wagering matchup between the Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens. NHL Playoffs handicappers could see the Bruins "break out the brooms" in this hockey wagering showdown as they lead the series 3 games to 0.
Boston was one of the favorites entering the NHL Playoffs and they have done nothing to change that perception of the hockey wagering public so far in the post season. The Bruins have been dominant and in control against Montreal thus far in the NHL Playoffs.
The Bruins defeated Montreal at home by scores of 4-2 and 5-1 and then won game 3 at Montreal on Monday by a score of 4-2. Goaltender Tim Thomas has been particularly impressive in the NHL Playoffs as he has a 1.67 goals against average so far in the NHL Playoffs and all 3 of Boston's wins.
Boston center Phil Kessel has been one of the main stalwarts so far in the 2009 NHL Playoffs. Kessel has 3 goals and 2 assists through the first three games against the Canadiens. Fellow center Marc Savard is also off to a great start in the NHL Playoffs with 2 goals and 3 assists. Boston has been so good that any doubters they had are quickly jumping on board. It is important to keep in mind that the Bruins were ranked 2nd overall on offense and number one in the league on defense entering the NHL Playoffs.
The Canadiens, conversely, ranked 13th on offense and a weak 20th overall on defense. So far goaltender Carey Price has been ineffective as he has a 4.15 goals against average in 3 games. Center Christopher Higgins and right winger Alexei Kovalev have been about the only offense for the Habs so far as each has scored 2 goals.
The big question entering game four will be the motivational edge and psyche of each team. Will Boston have the "killer instinct" to finish off the Canadiens or will Montreal rise to the occasion and fight to avoid being eliminated on their home ice?
