NHL hockey wagering fans have been burned badly by both teams as of late as they have struggled most of the month against the NHL hockey lines. The Montreal Canadiens got off to a strong start against the NHL hockey wagering board this season and had one of the best records in the league for the first three months of play.
What was once a guaranteed spot for the NHL hockey wagering post season is now in serious jeopardy as the Canadiens are floundering with the Panthers, Rangers, Sabres and Hurricanes for a playoff position. Montreal’s main NHL hockey wagering problem has been their 21st ranked defense.
Their offense has been slightly above average as it ranked 13th. It is also interesting to note that starting on that fateful January 20 loss at Atlanta the Canadiens have also been on a strong NHL hockey wagering over/under run in which they went under the total just once in those 15 games!
Andrei Kostitsyn led the Habs in goals with 22 while Andrei Markov led in assists with 46. Goaltenders Carey Price and Jaroslav Halak both had save percentages slightly over .900.
After a blistering hot start to the NHL hockey wagering season the San Jose Sharks have begun to come back down to earth and are now in a tight race with Detroit for the top spot in the western conference and the home ice advantage that will come with it for the NHL hockey wagering post season.
The Sharks 4-2 win over the Los Angeles Kings on February 19 was just their 3rd against the NHL hockey lines in 9 games. It was also their 7th “over” in 9 games against the NHL hockey wagering totals board.
The Sharks are still one of the strongest teams in NHL hockey wagering, however, as they ranked 2nd overall on offense while ranking 4th overall on defense. Joe Thornton is one of many NHL hockey wagering assets for the Sharks as he led the team in scoring with 14 goals and a whopping 53 assists.
