NHL hockey lines for Tuesday's game between Pittsburgh and Tampa Bay will be on an NHL wagering matchup of extreme opposites. NHL hockey lines have been burned by the Penguins as of late while the Lightning have been a NHL wagering bankroll buster!
After floundering for the first four and a half months of the season against the NHL hockey lines the Pittsburgh Penguins finally ignited their powerful machine and are once again a top NHL wagering commodity. From February 19 through April 1 the Penguins went on a tear against the NHL hockey lines in which they got the cash in 15 out of 19 games. Pittsburgh's 7th ranked offense was a major reason for their success against the NHL hockey lines.
Centers Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby have both been major assets against the NHL hockey lines. Malkin had 34 goals and 74 assists while Crosby had 30 goals and 69 assists. Goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury has been another significant reason for the Penguins success against the NHL hockey lines. Fleury had a .913 save percentage and 33 wins for the season. He was in goal for nearly every payoff during Pittsburgh's streak against the NHL hockey lines.
For the first half of the season the Tampa Bay Lightning were one of the best values on the NHL wagering board despite being one of the worst teams in the league. But Tampa Bay has not been able to sustain their success against the NHL hockey lines as the season has worn on. From January 29 through April 3 Tampa Bay beat the NHL hockey lines in just 7 out of 30 games.
Tampa Bay's weaknesses against the NHL hockey lines are plentiful as they ranked 23rd overall on offense and 26th overall on defense. Right wing Martin St. Louis led the Lightning in scoring with 29 goals and 48 assists for 77 points while center Vincent Lecavalier had 29 goals and 38 assists. Goaltender Mike Smith hasn't had a lot of support but still had a respectable .916 save percentage and 2.62 goals against average.
