Hockey odds will favor the Flames in this one as they are in first place in the northwest while the Kings have been a good underdog hockey bet this season. The Calgary Flames have struggled to be a value against the hockey odds despite having a good overall season and that first place standing.
Calgary had an overall hockey bet record of 30-18-3-1 straight up but was just 22-30 against the hockey odds. Calgary has been inconsistent recently against the hockey odds and the big reason for their problems has been their defense, which was ranked just 20th overall in the league.
Miikka Kiprusoff has been a workhorse in goal for Calgary Flames and has good numbers with a record of 30-15 and a goals against average of 2.82. Kiprusoff had a save percentage of .904. The problem for Calgary has been the defense in front of Kiprusoff allowing too many quality chances.
Until coach Mike Keenan’s team tightens up on defense they will continue to struggle against the hockey odds. The Los Angeles Kings, on the other hand, have had better success against the hockey odds than one might expect at first glance.
The Kings had an overall hockey bet record of 23-21-2-5 straight up but were a solid 29-22 against the hockey odds. Los Angeles has been on a good recent run against the hockey odds as they got the cash in six out of seven games from January 20 through February 7.
In that same span against the over/under hockey odds the Kings went over the total five out of seven times. Los Angeles’ main asset against the hockey odds has been their 7th ranked defense. Erik Ersberg and Jonathan Quick have both been solid in goal for the Kings and get solid help in front of them.
Dustin Brown scored 20 goals while Alexander Frolov added 21 goals to pace the Kings. The Flames defeated the Kings 6-2 in their last meeting November 25 at the Calgary Saddledome.
