Hockey odds will favor the home standing Red Wings but Colorado can be a dangerous hockey wagering dog in this spot. The Colorado Avalanche have struggled mightily against the hockey odds.
Those who remember when the Avalanche were a hockey wagering powerhouse simply cannot fathom what this team has since become. From January 13 through February 7 Colorado earned just three payoffs in eleven games against the hockey odds. Overall the Avs had a record of 25-27-0-1 straight up and 26-27 against the hockey odds.
Colorado is below average on both ends of the ice with an offensive ranking of 20th and a defensive ranking of 25th. The Colorado Avalanche have been a decent “under” team on the road against the over/under hockey odds with a mark of 9-15 under the total.
Long gone are the superstar names and powerful depth as this team has become a generic loser against the hockey odds. The Detroit Red Wings are always among the most popular teams in the hockey wagering community and it’s easy to understand why as the Wings are consistent contenders year after year for the Stanley Cup title.
The big problem for Detroit against the hockey odds is that they are far too popular. The Wings draw so much public money that the line makers have to jack their prices way beyond what is reasonable or warranted in order to balance out betting action against the hockey odds.
A loss while betting on the hockey odds with the Red Wings is truly a catastrophe that takes a long time to make up for. Consider Detroit’s record of 35-11-6-1 straight up and just 18-35 against the hockey odds as the ultimate proof of their absurd over-priced value. Detroit had the league’s top ranked offense but ranked just 19th overall on defense.
The Wings went over the total in 15 out of 25 home games. Detroit lost at Colorado 3-4 on December 27 in the last meeting in this series which is a reminder of how dangerous this rivalry is.
