Hockey odds will favor a Sabres team that is teetering on the eighth and final spot in the eastern conference for the NHL wagering post season. The Anaheim Ducks have had a recent slump against the hockey odds which has caused them to fall out of the top eight in the western conference, where they have operated most of this NHL wagering season.
A February 20 loss at Detroit by a score of 2-5 was the Ducks 3rd consecutive loss and 5th loss in 7 games. It was also their third consecutive game that went over the total. The Ducks had previously suffered ugly losses at home to Atlanta, (4-8), and Los Angeles, (3-4).
Strong defense has usually been an Anaheim plus against the hockey odds and the drop off has been alarming. The Ducks fell to 18th overall in the NHL for total defense. All star goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere has played poorly as of late and has been a major reason as to why Anaheim has been so inconsistent against the hockey odds.
Jonas Hiller was clearly outplaying him in goal but slipped a notch as well during the Ducks recent slump against the hockey odds. Ryan Getzlaf has been one of the bright spots for Anaheim against the hockey odds as he had 20 goals and 47 assists to lead the team in points with 67.
The Buffalo Sabres have also had their recent share of problems against the hockey odds. A February 19 loss at Philadelphia by a score of 3-6 was the Sabres 4th NHL wagering loss in 6 games. The game did stop a strong “under” run against the hockey odds in which Buffalo posted just 1 game over the total in their previous 9.
The Sabres suffered costly back to back losses against the hockey odds versus Ottawa on February 7 and 11, which was the low point of the month. They did score a thrilling 6-5 shootout win against the hockey odds versus San Jose on February 13 to demonstrate that they can play with anyone in the league.
