Bet on the NHLThe Ducks fly north to the land of Canadien geese, when Anaheim faces off against the Vancouver Canucks in Rogers Arena at 10:00ET tonight. The game can be seen as the second half of a doubleheader on the NBC Sports Network, and hockey odds for the game are available.
Anaheim has little to play for other than pride and possibly saying goodbye to perennial all star Teemu Selanne, who will contemplate retirement once again after this season. If Sunday was his last game for the Ducks, at least he went out on a high note by scoring Anaheims only goal, albeit in a losing 2-1 effort versus the Edmonton Oilers.
Interestingly enough, an up and coming player with Selannes same first name, Teemu Hartikainen logged both goals for the Oilers. Anaheim has been getting plenty of shots off, just not past the opposing goaltender, as evidenced by the shots on goal stat the past two contests. On Sunday they outshot Edmonton 33-15. In their previous game they had an incredible 44-29 shots on goal advantage against Phoenix, but could not convert on even one, losing 4-0 to the Coyotes.
The Ducks are 33-35-11 good for 77 points. They are 12-17-9 on the road.
Vancouver, on the other hand, has everything to play for, including the Presidents Trophy for most points in the NHL. They come into tonights contest, with three games remaining, leading the Western Conference by just one point over the St. Louis Blues 107 to 106. The New York Rangers share the NHL lead right now also at 107 points sitting atop the East.
Maintaining the first position in the West would also, of course, insure home ice advantage throughout the playoffs. In their last game on Saturday, Vancouver beat the Calgary Flames 3-2 in overtime. Henrik Sedin has 8 assists in his last 6 games, while twin brother Daniel has missed all of them with concussion symptoms.
Anaheim leads the season series 2-1 including the game played here on January 15th. Overall, the Canucks are 25-10-4 at home and have won 6 straight. The moneyline has Vancouver as the home favorite at minus 180, while Anaheim is a plus 160. A bet of $130 will be required to win $100 on the over/under set at 5 goals.
