Bet on the NHLThe midwestern based Blues of St. Louis must now face the bright lights of Hollywood as this NHL Western Conference semi final series moves to the glitzy and glamorous Staples Center in Los Angeles for game three tonight. The game can be seen as the second half of an NHL doubleheader on the NBC Sports network following the Flyers at Devils.
Hollywood is the perfect setting for the Kings, as thus far this postseason they could not have written a better script for themselves even with a room full of Tinsel Town screenwriters. The number eight seeded Kings summarily dispatched the President Trophy award winning number one seeded Vancouver Canucks in five games. In that series, they got out to a 3-0 series lead and won it four games to one.
Now come the second seeded Blues, who many thought would burst the Kings bubble coming off an outstanding hockey betting regular season and strong showing in the first round of these playoffs against San Jose. There has to be concern in the St. Louis camp, after allowing eight goals in two games at their hometown Scottrade Center.
Los Angeles entered the postseason as the team with the fewest goals of any Stanley Cup contender. That being said, you don't need much scoring when you have a goaltender such as Jonathan Quick. Props should be given to the Los Angeles defense as well, being Quick isn't out there by himself facing breakaways the whole contest.
But still, Quick has now surpassed Mike Smith of the Phoenix Coyotes as the official hottest netminder of the playoffs. Thus far, in this postseason, Quick has, of course, played in all seven contests, winning 6 while posting a goala against average of an incredible 1.56 and an amazing goals against percentage of .952.
On the other end of the ice, the Blues coach Ken Hitchcock, appears to have decided to go with backup goalie Brian Elliott. Enough said? Nothing need be said to the Blues about this being a must win if they want a chance to win their first ever Lord Stanleys Cup.
Los Angeles is a home ice favorite at -$120, while St. Louis is an even money +$100. You can bet the over/under of 4.5 total goals at a -$115, or click here for more sportsbook betting odds.
