Bet on the NFLThe city of Los Angeles has not had an NFL team since 1994. Plenty of debate has come about with regards to trying to get the NFL back into the city since then. Some major developments have come about with the intention of possibly getting the NFL back in.
Stadiums Are Being Proposed
There are two big stadium developments that have discussed. These include options that would be in the suburbs of Inglewood and Carson. The owner of the St. Louis Rams has particularly been a big supporter of the stadium in Inglewood. The Oakland Raiders and San Diego Chargers have also planned to use private funds for the Carson option. Both stadiums have been approved but it is uncertain as to if they will be built.
Three Teams Could Move... and They Have LA Connections
There are three teams that have been named as choices to move to Los Angeles. Ironically, all of them have played in Los Angeles in the past.
The St. Louis Rams have been rumored to move back to Los Angeles. This is thanks not only to the owner's support of one of the stadium projects in the city but also from the city of St. Louis doing very little to support the development of a new stadium to replace the Edward Jones Dome.
The Oakland Raiders, who played in Los Angeles for a little over ten years, are also a popular choice. This is thanks to the ownership's support of one stadium in the city and the lack of support for building a new stadium in Oakland.
The third team that could move is the San Diego Chargers. The team played in Los Angeles in 1960 while in the AFL but moved to San Diego in the next year. Like the other teams, the owners of the Chargers have supported stadium projects in Los Angeles and have their own issues over not getting a new stadium ready.
Whether or not the NFL will return to Los Angeles is uncertain. However, it has become clear that whenever one team has issues with its stadium or its attendance numbers, the city of Los Angeles will certainly come up in the debate.
