Bet on the NFLThe Atlanta Falcons will swoop into northern Florida Thursday night and attempt to elude being devoured by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Kickoff in EverBank Field should occur at 6:30ET.
Atlanta (1-2) were the ones devouring some fish in last weeks 23-6 win over another NFL Florida entry, the Miami Dolphins. However, the score was just 9-3 at the half prior to the regulars sitting. Starting QB Matt Ryan returned for the 3rd quarter and hit on a 20 yard touchdown throw against the Fins subs. Look for Dominique Davis to get a close look on Thursday in this final preseason affair as Ryan prepares for the NFL opener on Sept.9th versus KC.
Jacksonville (2-1) was crushed by Baltimore 48-17 last Thursday. The game could also prove costly depending upon how much time Jags TE Zach Miller will miss after leaving the contest with an injury to his leg. Of course, RB Maurice Jones-Drew remains out due to a contract dispute.
Similar to what the Ravens did to the Jaguars last week, the Falcons routed Jacksonville in mid December of last year's regular season 41-14. In the regular season series since 2001, Atlanta has beaten Jacksonville twice and lost once. The home team has won in each of the three meetings.
The Falcons are 1-2 SU on the preseason, and 1-0 SU on the road. They are 1-2 ATS overall, and 1-0 ATS away from Atlanta. The Jags are 2-1 SU overall, going 1-0 SU at home. They are 1-2 ATS on the year, as well as 0-1 ATS at home.
Jacksonville is favored by 2.5 points at a -$110. As the home favorite, the Jaguars are 1-0 ATS this preseason. This will be the first game featuring the Falcons as the underdog. It will take another wager of $110 for the over / under of 39 points.
