Bet on the NFLOn Sunday afternoon, the two teams looking for their first wins of the season meet, as the Kansas City Chiefs travel to New Orleans to take on the Saints. Gametime is scheduled for 1:00 PM ET in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, and all of the action will be televised regionally on FOX.
The Chiefs come into this game after losing their road opener to the Buffalo Bills, 35-17. In that one, the Chiefs held a 422-379 edge in total yards, but also committed 3 turnovers, including 1 interception. QB Matt Cassell had a mediocre performance, throwing 23-of-42, for 301 yards, and 2 TDs. KC was held scoreless throughout the first half, and were down 35-3 by the end of the third quarter. A 14-point fourth quarter narrowed the gap, but the Chiefs' defense was the main problem against the Bills. Kansas City is managing just 11.3 ppg in their last 11 games.
The Saints are also coming into this game after losing their road opener to the Carolina Panthers, 35-27. The Saints held a 486-463 edge in offensive yards, but also committed 2 turnovers, including 2 interceptions. QB Drew Brees threw a decent game, going 31-of-49, for 325 yards, and 1 TD. The defense is the problem for the Saints, as well, as they are giving up 186 rushing yards per game over their first two.
Both of these teams gave up 40 points in Week 1, and 35 points in Week 2. Both of them also held edges in the stats against their opponents in the first two weeks, but could not capitalize on them.
The Chiefs are 0-2 ATS so far this year. They are 0-1 ATS on the road, 0-2 ATS as the dog, and 0-1 ATS as the road dog. In Saints games, the host is 15-5 ATS recently. However, they lost their home opener by 15 ½ points ATS. The Saints are also 0-2 ATS this season. They are 0-1 ATS at home, 0-2 ATS as the favorite, and 0-1 ATS as the home favorite.
These two teams have met just twice since 2001, with New Orleans winning both of those games. In a November 2008 matchup, the Saints won 30-20 after being favored by 5 points. In a November 2004 meeting, New Orleans won 27-20, a game in which the Chiefs were favored by 3 ½.
For this Sunday's game, the Saints are an 8 ½ point favorite in Bet Royal's sportsbook. The over/under is set at 53 points.
