Bet on the NFLThe Minnesota Vikings set sail for the Lone Star State on Thursday to battle the Houston Texans in the final week of NFL preseason play. Gametime is 7:00ET in Reliant Stadium.
Minnesota (1-2) had a tough night on offense last Friday falling to the unbeaten Chargers 12-10. Starting QB Christian Ponder may see some playing time against the Texans even though that would not normally be the case in the final exhibition game. His poor play against San Diego may prompt coach Leslie Frazier to want a final tuneup for him prior to the start of the regular season in less than 2 weeks. Adrian Peterson took part in pregame practice but will not play on Thursday.
Houston (2-2) ran into a starting QB by the name of Drew Brees in their 34-27 loss to the Saints on Saturday. Look for Texan QB Matt Schaub and RB Arian Foster to sit out against the Vikes. There are no significant injuries to report for the Texans.
These two teams have rarely met in the regular season since 2001. The Vikings are 2-0 in the regular season versus the Texans with 2008 being the last time they met.
The Vikings are 1-2 SU on the year, and 0-1 SU on the road. They are 1-2 ATS during the preseason, going 0-1 ATS away from Minnesota. The Texans are 2-1 ATS overall, going 1-0 SU in Houston. They are 2-1 ATS on the preseason, and 1-0 ATS at home.
Houston is favored at home by 3.5 points on a $110/$100 moneyline. As the favorite, the Texans are 1-0 ATS this year, and 1-0 ATS when favored at home. The Vikings are 0-1 ATS as the underdog, and 0-1 ATS as the away dog. The same moneyline applies to the under / over of 39.5 total points.
