Bet on the NFLAs of last week both the Panthers and the 49ers were winless teams, but as of this Sunday San Francisco can proudly boast their first win of the 2010 NFL season, a 17-9 defeat over Oakland in the Battle of the Bay.

Unfortunately, the Panthers didn’t score any wins during their bye week, so they are still 5 and 0. The Panthers are strong against the pass, allowing just 182.4 passing yards per game, while their run defense is not so great.

The 49ers pass defense ranks 11th in the NFL allowing 201.2 yards per game. Matt Moore leads the Panther’s offense, which only manages to record 136.6 passing yards per game. He has thrown for 342 yards, six interceptions and two touchdowns while completeing 42.4 percent of his passes for a 33.3 QB rating.

The Panthers proudly rank worst in the NFL for yards of offense at 258.8 and were held to 147 in last weekend’s loss to the Bears.

The 49ers are going for their worst start in 31 years, but maybe last weeks win behind QB Alex Smith will turn it all around. Football betting tips: They  are the road favorites as Sportsbook lists the 49ers at minus 3 points with the over under at 35.5.

Coming out of the bye week, the Panthers will go back to Moore after Jimmy Clausens 23-6 loss to Chicago on the 10th. Clausen went 9 of 22 for 61 yards with an interception and fumbled thrice.

Moore was inspired recently after watching year-old film from when he went 4-1 in place of an ineffective Jake Delhomme, and is confident he can bring it back this season. “It’s a good reminder of what you can do. It reminds me, when times are tough, that it can be done.”
