Bet on the NFLOn Sunday afternoon, RGIII and the Washington Redskins make the trip from our nation's capital to the Midwest to take on the St. Louis Rams. The game is scheduled to begin at 4:05 PM ET in Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis, MO. You can view all of the action regionally on FOX.
The Redskins are coming into this game after upsetting the Saints in New Orleans, 40-32. In that one, rookie QB Robert Griffin III threw 19-of-26, for 320 yards and 2 touchdowns. RB Alfred Morris performed well, rushing for 96 yards on 28 carries and earning 2 touchdowns. The Skins scored exactly 10 points in each quarter, holding a 464-358 edge in offensive yards over the Saints. They also forced New Orleans into 3 turnovers, while committing 0 of their own. They held a 153-32 edge in rushing yards, and held the ball for nearly twice as much time as the Saints.
The Rams did not have nearly as easy a time of it in Week 1, falling 27-23 to the Lions in Detroit. Despite putting points on the board in every quarter, the Rams could not make up a 429-251 deficit in offensive yards. QB Sam Bradford threw for an efficient 17-of-25, resulting in 198 yards and 1 touchdown, but there were few bright spots otherwise. The Rams were actually up in this, until Lions QB Matthew Stafford led the team to a touchdown in the final 10 seconds. The Rams have put up 12.9 ppg in their last 10 games.
The Redskins, as a road underdog, covered the spread in upsetting the Saints in Week 1. The Rams, despite losing SU, covered the spread against the Lions as a road dog. The Rams are on a 5-16 run ATS, and are 2-6 ATS when playing at home against the Redskins.
These two teams have met 7 times since 2001, with Washington holding a 4-3 edge overall. In October 2011, the Skins were favored by 2 ½, winning 17-10 and covering. In September 2010, the Rams won 30-16 at home when listed as the 4 point favorite. In a low-scoring game in 2009, Washington won 9-7 but were favored by 10 points.
For this Sunday's game, the Redskins are a 3 point favorite, according to Bet Royal Sportsbook's NFL odds. The over/under is set at 45 ½ points.
