Bet on the NFLOn Sunday afternoon, the 1-3 Tennessee Titans travel to Minnesota to take on the 3-1 Vikings. The first kick of the ball is scheduled for 4:25 PM ET at Mall of America Field in Minneapolis, MN, and you can watch all of the action regionally on the CBS network.
The Titans come into this game off of loss on the road to the undefeated Houston Texans, 38-14. While Tennessee held a 325-297 edge in offensive yards, that did not turn into points. Seven penalties and three turnovers, including 2 INTs, kept them scoreless in the first and third quarters. The Texans, for their part, put up 5 TDs and a field goal against the Titans defense. Tennessee QB Matt Hasselbeck threw 17-of-25, for 193 yards, and the team's two touchdowns, RB Chris Johnson ran for 141 yards. The Titans are allowing 37.8 ppg through its first four games of the season, and lost 38-10 and 38-14 in their first two home games.
The Vikings are on top of the NFC North after their defeat of the Lions in Detroit, 20-13. They could only manage 2 TDs, but it was enough, as the Lions put up only a singe touchdown. Minnesota suffered a 341-227 deficit in offensive yards, including a 286-100 deficit in passing yards. Their defense won the game, however, as they sacked the Lions 5 times, and recovered a fumble. QB Christian Ponder threw 16-of-26, for 111 yards. Their two TDs came on a 105-yard kickoff return, and a 77-yard punt return. The Vikings are just 4 points from being 4-0 SU on the season, and covered their last home game by 17 ½ points ATS.
The Titans are 1-3 ATS on the season, and 0-2 ATS as the road underdog. The Vikings are 2-2 ATS overall, and are 0-1 ATS when favored at home.
These two teams have met just three times since 2001, with the Vikings winning two of those games. Their last meeting, in September 2008, resulted in a 30-17 Titans victory. In that game, Tennessee was favored by 3 points. In an October 2004 matchup, the Vikings won 20-3, a game in which they were favored by 3 points.
For Sunday's game, the Vikings are listed by BetRoyal.com sportsbook as 5 ½ point home favorites. The over/under is set at 44 points.
