Bet on the NFLThe Cowboys depart "Big D" and make the short journey to the sand and sun in San Diego, as Dallas faces the Chargers in a Saturday night NFL contest. First kickoff in Qualcomm stadium is scheduled for 9:00ET and the game will be carried on the NFL Network in much of the country. As they say, check your local listings.
Hopefully, if you are able to watch this affair it will be a bit more exciting than the Cowboys 3-0 exhibition opening win against Oakland. To say the game was ugly, would be a vast understatement.
Offensive line play by Dallas was atrocious. How about this stat? With Tony Romo at QB the Cowboys could manage just two plays over one yard in 10 attempts. One of the plays that went for more than a yard was a 24 yard pass to Dez Bryant, so they at least had that.
Kyle Orton had better success in his debut as Romo's backup, driving the team 67 yards to start the second half and culminating with the games only score, a 33 yard field goal by Dan Bailey. Obviously, the Dallas defense pitched a shutout even without first round CB Morris Claiborne who may play on Saturday.
San Diego showed more life in a nice win against Green Bay 21-13 at Lambeau Field. The victory may prove a costly one, as starting RB Ryan Matthews broke his clavicle and is expected to miss 4 to 6 weeks.
With QB Philip Rivers' propensity to throw interceptions, it would be nice to have a running game to somewhat offset that trend. In any event Saturdays game should be fun to watch, matching two quarterbacks that can look amazing at times, then throw away a game at the drop of the hat (or ball).
San Diego is a 3 point home favorite if you are willing to wager $110 to win $100. The over/under of 37 total points is also available at a -$110.
