Bet on the NFLOn Sunday afternoon, the Arizona Cardinals make a trip from the Southwest to the Northeast to take on the New England Patriots. The first kick is scheduled for 1:00 PM ET in Gillette Stadium, and the game will be televised on the FOX network.
Both of these teams come into this game after winning their openers. The Cardinals won at home in a close game over the Seahawks, 20-16. QB John Skelton, though, was injured on a 17 yard pass and had to be carried off the field. Backup QB Kevin Kolb led the Cards on the deciding drive, scoring a touchdown with 4:59 left in the game. Arizona has been making a habit of close games, with 5 of their last 7 being decided by 3, 3, 2, 3, and 4.
The Patriots won their home opener by dismantling the Titans, 34-13. QB Tom Brady threw an efficient 23-of-31, for 236 yards and 2 touchdowns. RB Stevan Ridley ran for 125 yards and 1 touchdown on 21 carries. The Patriots ended the game with a 162-20 edge in yards rushing. Since the start of 2011, New England has scored 30 points or more 14 tmes, and are averaging 33.5 ppg in their last 13.
Both teams won SU and ATS in Week 1. However, the Cardinals are on an 0-5 ATS run in this series.
These two teams have only met twice since 2001, with the Patriots winning both of those games. In December 2008, New England simply destroyed Arizona, 47-7, a game in which the Pats were favored by 7 ½. In a September 2004 meetings, the game was a little closer, resulting in a 23-12 Patriots win. In that one, New England was favored by 8 points.
