Bet on NCAAFThe San Jose State Spartans make the trip to Stanford to face the No. 21 ranked Cardinals for what could be a lopsided, but entertaining, matchup. The first kick is scheduled for 10:00 ET in Stanford Stadium in Stanford, CA.
After nearly eight months of searching for a quarterback to replace 2012 NFL Draft No. 1 pick Andrew Luck, the Cardinals finally settled on Josh Nunes. Luck makes his way to Indianapolis to attempt to change the fortunes of the Colts, while Nunes steps up behind center for Stanford. San Jose State conducted their own search for a new starting QB, with David Fales winning the spot.
The most likely outcome of this game will be a rout of the Spartans, despite their recent improvements. In 2011, Stanford was favored by 30 points over San Jose State, with a final score of 57-3. In 2009, the Cardinals similarly destroyed the Spartans, being favored by 17 and winning 42-17. These two teams have met 7 times since 2003, with the Cardinals winning all but one game in 2006. That 2006 game was also the only time the Spartans managed to win against the spread over the Cards.
Stanford, though, has been absolutely amazing spreadwise, going 18-6-1 last year, and 13-2-1 recently. Their offensive output of 43 points per game has also been impressive, to say the least. The Cards are 15-3 ATS lately, and 19-6 ATS when playing at home. When favored by non-conference opponents by more than 10 points, they are 8-0 ATS.
On the other hand, the Spartans have been respectable spreadwise, posting a 17-7 record away from San Jose. In their last 9 games, they managed 24 points per game on average. They have put together a respectable run, going 10-4 ATS, 5-1 ATS away from home, and 4-0 ATS against non-conference teams.
With all that said, this game should still be a rout. The Cardinals are a 24 point favorite with BetRoyal's college football odds. The over/under is set at 51 points.
