Bet on NCAAFThis Saturday afternoon, the No. 25 Baylor Bears take on the West Virginia Mountaineers in a Week 5 Big 12 conference matchup. The game is scheduled to begin at 12:00 PM ET in Mountaineer Field, and will be televised on FX.
Baylor just cracked the Top 25 rankings with an impressive defeat of Louisiana-Monroe in Week 4, by a score of 47-42. The Bears are now undefeated this season at 3-0, and are on a nine-game winning streak. QB Nick Florence, attempting to fill the very large shoes left by Robert Griffin III, is completing passes at 65%. Baylor, though, is giving up 27 first downs per game over their first three contests against such teams as Southern Methodist, Sam Houston State, and LA-Monroe.
West Virginia is also coming into this weekend with an undefeated record, going 3-0 on the season and 3-0 at home. Last week, as the No. 8 team in the rankings, they defeated Maryland 31-21. However, the Mountaineers are dropping in rushing yards with each game. In Week 1, they tallied 331, then 121, and then just 35 last week. QB Geno Smith, though, is still impressive, averaging 357 passing yards per game, completing 81% of his passes. He has racked up 12 touchdowns to 0 interceptions so far this season. West Virginia is also enjoying a 50-33 ppg edge over the first three weeks.
The host is 10-0 ATS recently in Baylor games. The Bears are just 2-6 ATS on the road lately. They are, however, 5-0 ATS overall recently. Baylor is also 40 ATS as the road underdog by more than 12 points. The Mountaineers have put together 7-3 and 18-10 runs ATS lately, but are only 6-14 ATS when hosting an opponent from their league.
As this is the first meeting between these two teams, the matchup is full of uncertainty at this point. West Virginia is listed as a 13 point home favorite from BetRoyal.com's sportsbook site. The line opened in Vegas favoring the Mountaineers by 10 ½ points.The over/under is set at a very high 79 ½ points.
