Bet on NCAAFThe nations No. 2 ranked USC Trojans will travel cross country to meet the Syracuse Orange on Saturday afternoon in New Jersey. The game will be played beginning at 3:30ET in the home of the NFL's Jets and Giants, MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford. The contest will be shown nationally on the ABC television network.
USC (1-0) and QB Matt Barkley spent little time waiting to show the world why they are favorites to win this year's national championship with perhaps a Heisman Trophy thrown in for Barkley along the way. On the opening play of the season Barkley threw a 75 yard TD pass and the final score of USC 49, Hawaii 10 is everything else you need to know. USC was up 35-0 at the half, and have averaged 45.5 ppg in its last 6.
Syracuse (0-1), on the other hand suffered a heart breaking 42-41 defeat at the hands of Northwestern at home last Saturday. After rallying from a 22 point deficit in the 3rd quarter, the Orange lost it on a Wildcat touchdown pass with just 44 seconds remaining in the game. They got a school record of 479 PY from QB Nassib, going 45-of-66 with 4 TDs and just 1 sack, overcoming a 35-13 deficit.
These teams have not met since 1990, but USC holds a 3-0 series lead. In 2011, USC was favored by 16 ½ over Syracuse, winning 38-17 and covering.
The Orange are 0-5 ATS on the road lately, and 4-8 ATS in road openers, but are 27-15 ATS against opponents outside their conference.
USC is 9-3 ATS recently, 3-0 ATS as road favorites, and 11-4 ATS in road openers. They are just 3-7 ATS against non-conference opponents, however.
According to BetRoyal's online casino odds, USC is a prohibitive 27 point favorite versus Syracuse at a -$110. Another wager of $110 will be required for the under/over of 57.5 points.
