Bet on NCAAFThe Florida Atlantic Owls will fly into Tuscaloosa Saturday afternoon and should be prepared for a possible drowning by the Crimson Tide of Alabama. This "contest" is scheduled to take place in Bryant-Denny Stadium commencing at 5:00 ET. You'll need "Game Plan" to see it on TV as even the networks want no part of this potential debacle.
Florida Atlantic (1-2) won its season opener against a team named Wagner by an unimpressive score of 7-3. The Owls then proceeded to drop its next 2 to Middle Tennessee 31-17 and number 7 ranked Georgia 56-20. There is really nothing to be said about their prospect in beating Alabama except if they do so, it will be the upset of the century.
All Alabama (3-0) has done in preparation for this game is pitch 2 shutouts versus Western Kentucky and a good, even if depleted, Arkansas team by scores of 35-0 and 52-0 respectively. They have outscored opponents 128-14 including their week one 41-14 trouncing of a very good Michigan squad.
While Alabama was originally ranked No. 2 in the country before the season started, their win over Michigan propelled them to the top ranking. Also helping is the fact that USC, widely considered the top team in the nation, has been disappointing this season. They destroyed Hawaii 49-10 in their opener, but fell to the second spot. In Week 2, they won 42-29 over Syracuse, holding onto the 2nd spot. But in Week 3, they were upset by No. 21 Stanford, and have dropped considerably. Alabama's only real competition in the rankings right now is LSU, currently at No. 2.
It is no surprise Alabama is favored in this one by 49.5 points at a -$110. Perhaps your best bet would be on the over/under of 57.5 total points also -$110. The Crimson Tide may cover the over all by themselves.
