#1 Florida State vs. Oklahoma State
Florida State will be defending its national championship throughout the year and will be starting it off with a game at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Jameis Winston is hoping to be the second player in NCAA history to win two Heisman Trophies. The Seminoles are -17.5 favorites to defeat the Cowboys in this match.
#13 LSU vs. #14 Wisconsin
LSU and Wisconsin will be playing on a neutral site in Houston. LSU has two seniors that will be running the ball for much of the time but true freshman Leonard Fournette is expected to be a critical part of the running game. Wisconsin has strong statistics but much of the team's effort has come from many of the weakest teams in the Big Ten. LSU is a -4.5 favorite for the game.
#12 Georgia vs. #16 Clemson
Georgia is a -7.5 favorite to win in their match with Clemson. Hutson Mason is going to start at quarterback for the Bulldogs this year and Brendan Douglas is expected to be a more productive role player as he is fully healthy. As for the Tigers, Cole Stoudt will take the helm at the quarterback spot. The team is expected to do more from a running standpoint with D.J. Howard taking in much of the effort.
#2 Alabama vs. West Virginia
Alabama has a -25.5 advantage in this game in Atlanta's Georgia Dome. The Crimson Tide is expected to be in full power. Meanwhile, West Virginia is conflicted with regards to who will compete for the running game, what with Charles Sims heading to the NFL.
#9 South Carolina vs. #21 Texas A&M
South Carolina and Texas A&M will be starting the year early with a match on Thursday, August 28. South Carolina is favored to be a strong side this year but Texas A&M may be at risk with regards to having to get a totally new quarterback. The team's secondary is going to be rather strong with Howard Matthews and Deshazor Everett being key figures. Oddsmakers are not as kind to the Aggies though as the Gamecocks have a -10.5 advantage for the match.
Michigan vs. Appalachian State
In 2007, Appalachian State pulled off what may be the greatest upset in college football history when they defeated Michigan in Ann Arbor. The Wolverines are -34 favorites so it may be tough for another upset to come in the Big House. The Mountaineers' Marcus Cox is expected to be a strong running and receiving threat though.
Troy vs. UAB
While many of the games this week have incredibly high odds, there is one game with pick'em odds, Troy and UAB are slated to be rather close this week with a -110 payout for a correct pick on either team regardless of the outcome.
