Bet on NCAAFCollege football bettors will get their second consecutive nationally televised Big East NCAAF betting matchup in as many nights as Rutgers hosts Pittsburgh. College football handicappers have seen Pitt jump to the Big East lead while Rutgers has picked up easy NCAAF betting wins recently against questionable teams.
Pitt has a college football record of 5-1 straight up and 3-2 against the spread. The Panthers are coming of their most impressive NCAAF betting win of the season last week in a stirring 24-21 comeback over Connecticut. While Pitt did not cover the college football betting board as 6.5 point home favorites they earned respect by rallying from a 6-21 deficit to win as Bill Stull threw 2 touchdown passes in the 2nd half and led the drive to the game winning field goal as time expired.
Stull has had an inconsistent college football season so far but the late rally improved his stats and he now has a 67% completion rate with 1256 yards passing along with a 13/3 touchdown to interception ratio. Jonathan Baldwin is his favorite target with 27 catches or 532 yards and 3 touchdowns.
The Rutgers Scarlet Knights have a college football record of 4-1 straight up and 2-3 against the spread. Rutgers is just 1-3 against the spread at home this year and was clobbered at home in their only Big East game by Cincinnati 15-47 in their college football season opener. Rutgers has two wins over 1-AA teams to pad their books. They have gone under the total in 4 out of 5 games this year.
The Rutgers passing attach has been one of the worst in college football as has their pass defense. The Scarlet Knights bend but don’t break as they rank a solid 23rd nationally for points allowed. They are coming off a 42-0 college football win last week over Texas Southern. Running back Joe Martinek is off to a solid start to the college football season with 411 yards rushing and a 5.5 yards per carry average. Rutgers has covered the spread against Pitt in 5 out of the last 7 head to head matchups in this series.
