Bet on NCAAFThe SEC has become extremely powerful to the point where five of the top ten teams in the AP poll are in that conference with four being in the SEC West. These include the Auburn Tigers at #4 and the Mississippi Rebels at #7. These two SEC West teams are both ones that could easily make the college football playoff system. These two will be playing on Saturday night at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in University, Mississippi.
The 6-1 Tigers have come back after losing to the #1-ranked Mississippi State Bulldogs to get into the top five with a 42-35 win over South Carolina last week. The Tigers have the tenth-highest rushing total in college football with 281 rushing yards per game. Nick Marshall is making a run for the Heisman Trophy as he has eleven passing touchdowns and seven rushing touchdowns with a combined total of of nearly 1,700 yards on offense.
Ole Miss fell to 7-1 this past week after losing to LSU 10-7. Ole Miss has the strongest defense in football based on the number of points the Rebels have allowed. The Rebels have given up 10.5 points per game this year. They have only given up more than 15 in a game twice and the highest was in a 35-20 win over Texas A&M. Bo Wallace currently has 2,075 yards in passing with 18 touchdowns but he also has seven interceptions to go with that total.
This SEC West game is highly expected to be the game of the week. Mississippi has a very narrow lead for the game as Ole Miss is a -2.5 favorite to win. While Auburn has won eight of their last ten games against the Rebels, Ole Miss has been catching up to War Eagle. The Rebels lost last year's game 30-22 and won in 2012 by a score of 41-20. Whether or not the momentum will truly shift in this rivalry will be seen on Saturday night as they look to catch up closer to Mississippi State to get the top spot in the SEC West or at least have some hope for the playoffs.
