Bet on NCAABThis Thursday, ESPN2 will be broadcasting the game between St. John's and Seton Hall.
St. John's is on a hot streak right now, winning eight of their last nine games. In fact, they have won all of their last six. No wonder they are the favorite tonight for winning at Seton Hall, a team whose losing streak is as disappointing as St. John's winning streak is impressive.
Seton Hall has lost five of their last six games, and are on a three game losing streak right now. St. John's is favored by 3 points right now in the NCAA betting odds. The Pirates are coming off of a loss against Notre Dame this past Saturday. Although they are not a favorite in this game, Seton Hall is a solid team when playing at home, so St. John's will have to play at a high level.
Due to their current success, the Red Storm has moved up to No. 15 in the rankings and are playing at the competitive level of a Top 10 basketball organization. St. John's Dwight Hardy may be the Big East Player of the Year in 2011, and he is coming off of a 34-point career-high performance in the win against Villanova.
Tonight's game will be the 87th time these two schools have played each other. St. John's has the long-term historical edge, leading the series at 54-32. But Seton Hall has won seven times in the last ten meetings. This year, the Pirates are only 1-8 against teams ranked in the Top 25, and are 5-10 all-time when playing against schools that are ranked No. 15.
Look for Seton Hall to rely on Jeff Robinson tonight. He is coming off of a 16-point game against Notre Dame. Jeremy Hazell will also be important for the Pirates tonight. He put up 14 points in the Notre Dame loss on Saturday. However, it is unlikely that the Red Storm will lose this game; the are playing at such a high level right now, that it is hard to imagine the lowly Pirates beating them.
