March Madness 2009 has seen Syracuse emerge as a surprise team while Oklahoma has re-merged as a dominate March Madness betting force. Although the Syracuse Orange entered March Madness 2009 as a 3-seed and a runner up in the Big East tournament, they were not considered a true threat for the Final Four stage of March Madness betting action as the first “dances” began.
Syracuse lacked the respect of March Madness 2009 handicappers in comparison to Big East rivals Louisville, Pittsburgh, and Connecticut, all of whom received 1-seeds for the “Big Dance”. Syracuse is proving, however, that they are a serious threat to go all the way in March Madness 2009.
The Orange first won and covered over Stephen F. Austin in their March Madness 2009 opener 59-44 as 11-point chalks and then followed that up with a strong 78-67 win and cover over Arizona State as 2.5-point chalks. Meanwhile the 2-seeded Oklahoma Sooners have looked like the top ranked team in the nation that they were for much of the regular season.
Oklahoma scored a dominating 82-54 win in their March Madness 2009 opener against Morgan State as 15-point chalks. Superstar Blake Griffin led the Sooners in scoring with 28 points and an easy March Madness betting payoff. The Sooners next “dance” in March Madness 2009 was a 73-63 win and cover as 7.5-point chalks over Michigan.
Griffin came up huge again as he had 33 points to lead the Sooners. Oklahoma’s defense was particularly impressive in their March Madness 2009 win over the Wolverines as it held Michigan to under 40% shooting from the floor.
Griffin is only a sophomore and is one of the toughest players you will see in March Madness 2009 as he has overcome numerous scrapes, scraps, and injuries throughout the season. Griffin also leads the Sooners in rebounds with an astounding average of 14.4 per game.
The Sooners will not be intimidated by the physical style of Syracuse and this should be one of the grittiest matchups in March Madness 2009!
