The LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds won the Northeast conference tournament in order to get into the Big Dance. The Blackbirds had a 25-8 record with a 16-2 NEC record. The team is 1-2 against teams in the NCAA tournament with a win over Vermont and losses to Iona and Norfolk State. The Blackbirds had eight and nine game winning streaks this year.
Julian Boyd, a junior forward, is fourth in the NEC in scoring with 17.4 points in each game. He also has a 55.7% field goal percentage. Jamal Olasewere, a fellow junior forward, is second din the NEC with a 57.7% percentage. This goes alongside the 16.8 points that he gets in each game.
