Bet on NCAABA competitive game between the Michigan State Spartans and the UCLA Bruins is scheduled for Thursday night in Tampa. Michigan State is the 10th seed, while UCLA is the 7th seed, yet the Spartans are favored to win this game. Kalin Lucas is the leading player for Michigan, while Ben Howland coaches the young Bruins team.
Currently, the sportsbook lists the Spartans as the 1 point favorites for tonight's game. The total is set at 128.5. This game is widely considered the heavyweight matchup of the second round of the NCAA tournament. Between the two teams, they have six Final Four appearances since 2005, so the winner tonight may be looking much further ahead.
Michigan State is bringing the experienced veterans to the table tonight. Eight Spartans have played in the Final Four in years past. Lucas is a very competent point guard, and Draymond Green and Durrell Summers can run the ball effectively. If they are able to play at a fast pace tonight, there is a lot for UCLA to worry about from this veteran team.
But the Bruins are relying on the brilliance of their young players to get the job done. UCLA has only one starter who has played in the NCAA tournament before. They are led by Reeves Nelson, Tyler Honeycutt, and Malcom Lee, who were named as All-Pac-10 first team athletes. Freshman center Josh Smith can also be a factor inside the paint for the Bruins.
Both teams are coming into the NCAA tournament with similar regular season stories. In a stretch in the middle of the season, the Spartans lost 6 of 9 games before turning it around at the end of the season. At one point in the season, UCLA was below .500 before getting hot later on. In the Pac-10 tourney, however, they were embarrassed with a loss to Oregon.
