The Seminoles are third in the ACC with a 19-9 record and 10-4 conference record. They are also #22 on the ESPN/USA Today poll.Virginia is fourth in the ACC with a 21-7 record and an 8-6 total ACC record. They are #24 on the Associated Press poll.
The Seminoles have lost two straight games following a three game winning stream. Florida State has just about clinched a first round bye for the ACC Tournament and are expected to have a good NCAA tournament slot thanks in part to its wins earlier this year against both Duke and North Carolina.
The Seminoles have a large roster of players to work with. Nine of the players on the team are getting at least ten minutes of playing time in each game. Michael Snaer, a junior guard, leads with 13.9 points per game.
The Cavaliers have a half game lead over North Carolina State and Miami for a first round bye for the coming conference tournament. The team has lost three of its last five games. Two of those losses were against a top ten-ranked North Carolina team. The Cavaliers have not beaten a ranked team since it beat Michigan on November 29.
Mike Scott, a senior forward, leads the Cavaliers with 16.9 points per game and 8.1 rebounds in each game. The Cavaliers' most recent loss to UNC was the first ACC game that he didn't score at least 10 points in.
