Bet on the NBAAre the Boston Celtics on the verge of a Miami Heat-like slump? Probably not, as they have not had any long losing streaks this season, but they have lost two games in a row. And with the terrible season they are having, the Milwaukee Bucks must be looking at the possibility of a four-game winning streak with more than a bit of disbelief.
So when the two teams meet tonight in Boston at the TD Garden, it is probably safe to assume that the Celtics will pull out a victory, if not a blowout. The fortunes have to reverse soon for each team, and they will probably do so tonight. The Bucks are not a winning team this year, and the Celtics are not a team to experience long bouts of frequent losses.
The Bucks are coming off of three blowout wins that have managed to keep their playoff hopes alive. Right now, they are sitting at tenth place in the Eastern Conference, a half-game behind the Indiana Pacers and Charlotte Bobcats. Both of these teams play on the road today, so it will be worth watching the outcome of all of these games in terms of Eastern Conference standings.
If the Celtics lose to the Bucks, Milwaukee may find themselves at eight in the conference. But the Celtics have not had a three game losing streak in March 28-April 2, 2010, nearly a year ago. And they have bounced back from their previous two-game losing streaks this season with winning streaks, winning fourteen, four, four, and three in a row before another loss.
Boston's last two losses came at home against the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday, and in Philadelphia playing the 76ers on Friday. The Clippers game was a 108-103 NBA betting shocker, while the 89-86 defeat in Philadelphia was also a surprise. The team looked flat on both days, with Paul Pierce and Ray Allen scoring only 16 points against Philadelphia.
The sportsbook lists the Celtics as the -8.5 point favorites tonight. The total is set at 179.5
