Bet on the NBAOne would think a city would be in a celebratory mood after convincingly winning the first game of a first round series in the NBA. But there is nothing but doom and gloom in the Windy City tonight entering the second game of their series with Philadelphia.
The United Center wont be the same when the game tips off at 8:00ET. You can see it for yourself on the TNT national broadcast.
With just 1:20 remaining in Saturdays opener and with the Bulls leading by 12, Derrick Rose went up for what normally would be considered a normal jumper. There was no contact with anyone else on the floor, but when he came to an abrupt halt before shooting, his knee flexed awkwardly and he fell in pain. As it turned out, he had tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left leg and will be out for the remainder of the postseason.
The Bulls went on to beat the Sixers 103-91, while many questioned why Chicago coach Tom Thibodeau still had his franchise point guard on the floor in a game that the Bulls seemed to have in hand by then. Regardless, it is what it is and now the Bulls will have to count on C.J. Watson, Rose's replacement and first year guard John Lucas III to step it up in NBA gambling if they hope to advance to the second round and beyond.
More will also be expected of Kyle Korver and Rip Hamilton to replace some of the point production that Rose would normally supply. Many people still give the Bulls a better than even chance to get past Philadelphia and possibly even the winner of the Atlanta/Boston series. But a victory in a series against the Miami Heat, in what would be the Eastern Conference finals seem remote now.
Even with the Bulls now Roseless, the online betting oddsmakers have installed Chicago as a 6.5 point home favorite tonight, if you are willing to wager $110 to win $100. Another $110 will be required to bet the over/under of 176 total points.
