Bet on the NBAWith the Phoenix Suns out of the playoffs and the Chicago Bulls trying to maintain their hold on the first spot in the Eastern Conference, tonight's game between the two should be a good one.
Phoenix has nothing to play for except pride, and the Bulls want to keep or increase their 2.5 game lead over the Miami Heat for top billing in the East.
The sportsbook lists the Bulls as the 10.5 point favorites, expecting the Chicago team to blow out the Suns at the United Center. The total is set at 204. Chicago has a remarkable 33-5 record when playing at home, the best in the Eastern Conference and just one win behind San Antonio's best home record in the league. Every team has a difficult time winning games at the United Center.
Phoenix is 37-39 on the season and currently in tenth place in the Western Conference. There is no chance for them to catch up to the Memphis Grizzlies or New Orleans Hornets to make it to the playoffs. Each of those teams are 44-33, and there are just not enough games left in the season to make up that difference. Phoenix, however, has a respectable road record, going 16-21, equaling the Denver Nuggets' home record.
Chicago has been heavily handicapped recently because of their uncanny ability to blow out teams. They experienced a 97-85 home loss against the Philadelphia 76ers, then went on a three game winning streak. The Bulls are coming off of a 113-106 win against the Toronto Raptors, where they were the 14.5 point favorites. The team came out with the win, but did not cover the spread.
The Suns are having some late season trouble, dropping five of their last six games. While they have a respectable road record, they have not won a game away from home for nearly three weeks. The Suns are coming off of a loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday, dropping that game 114-97. Chicago is every bit the equal of the Spurs in terms of elite standing in the NBA.
