Bet on the NBAAs Dallas travels to Atlanta, they already know they will be travelling again for the start of the NBA playoffs this weekend. Atlanta, however, has much at stake tonight when the Hawks tip it off against the Mavericks in Philips Arena at 8:00ET.
An Atlanta victory, or a Boston loss to Milwaukee insures them home court advantage for at least the first round of the postseason. Boston will finish with the fourth seed irregardless of tonights outcomes, off the strength of winning the Atlantic Division. But a Hawks win gives them the better won-lost record and thus, home court.
Dallas has been off since suffering a 93-83 basketball betting defeat at Chicago on Saturday. It will be interesting to see how Mavs coach Rick Carlisle plays it in terms of who plays and how many minutes, as opposed to providing an extended rest period for some of his starters.
The best scenario for Dallas is a sixth place finish and seventh is still a possibility. Either way, they will be facing a tough opponent in the West. At six, they would face the always tough Lakers and at seven the Thunder would be waiting to welcome them to Oklahoma City. The Mavs are 36-29 for the season, an even 5-5 in their last 10 and just 13-19 away from Big D this year.
The Hawks (39-26) should be all in tonight with home court advantage on the line. They have been playing well lately, including Tuesdays win versus the Clippers 109-102, which was their fourth victory in their last five games. Joe Johnson played well in that one netting 28 points including two crucial three pointers in the final two minutes. The Hawks bench contributed 32 points as well.
The Mavericks have emerged victorious the last three times these teams have met. They are 19-6 over the past twenty five meetings with Atlanta. Atlanta is a 4.5 point home online betting favorite, if you are willing to lay $110 to win $100. Another wager of $110 will be required on the over/under of 194.5 points.
