NBA playoffs handicappers were stunned when it was announced that Boston center Kevin Garnett would likely miss the entire NBA betting post season due to injury. NBA playoffs handicappers were even more stunned after Boston's terrible game 1 performance in which they lost to Chicago as 8.5-point NBA betting
The Celtics were going from bad to worse as the NBA playoffs began. Boston's 103-105 overtime home loss to the lightly regarded Bulls will either serve as a positive wake up call or as a portent of things to come. That is what makes game 2 of this NBA betting post season series so important and interesting.
Guard Derrick Rose was the hero in game 1 of this NBA playoffs series for the Bulls as he scored an eye-popping 36-points to lead Chicago. Rose didn't stop there, however, as he also added 11 assists for one of the best performances so far in the NBA playoffs. Fellow guard Ben Gordon was also effective as he had 20 points for a dynamic back court performance by the Bulls. Joakim Noah brought the Windex in game 1 as he cleaned the glass thoroughly with an astounding 17 rebounds while Brad Miller pitched in with 12 board.
Rebounding and defense are often NBA playoffs clues as to which team is more intense and Chicago answered with an 8-rebound advantage in game one while holding Boston to under 40-percent shooting from the floor. Rajon Rondo didn't take the night off for Boston, however, as he scored 29 points while Paul Pierce added 23.
Losing Garnett completely changes the NBA playoffs dynamics for the Celtics. They cannot be considered one of the three elite teams in the eastern conference NBA playoffs while the Bulls all of a sudden have momentum and a large confidence building win to potentially grow from. Gordon and Rose make for one of the best 1-2 backcourt combo's in the entire NBA playoffs and Chicago's 8th ranked offense should only be better with Garnett gone. If the Bulls can continue their strong rebounding and defense there may be more surprises ahead.
