Bet on the NBAWith this being the last week before the NBA All-Star Break, each game becomes a little less important to the teams, but more interesting to sports bettors.
Head coaches may rest their stars a little more in the run-up to the break, or bring back recently injured players to ease back into the game with fewer minutes. We saw this last night with the return of Derrick Rose for the Bulls and Carmelo Anthony for the Knicks. Five games will be played tonight, so let's take a look at some odds.
Hornets at Pacers
The Pacers are the 11 point favorites to win and no one is really doubting that they will be able to walk all over the Hornets. Indianapolis is 19-12 and 9-4 at home, while the Hornets are 7-24 overall and 4-10 on the road. Indiana's George Hill may return to the rotation tonight, and if he does, the chances of a Pacers victory rise exponentially. The team is 5-7 without Hill, while they were 14-5 with him healthy. The total is 180 ½.
Pistons at Cavaliers
This is a tough game to pick, as even the sportsbook recognizes, listing the Cavs as the 1 ½ point favorites. While the Pistons have improved on defense lately, they are a terrible road team, earning a 3-12 road record. The Cavaliers are only slightly better with a 12-17 overall record and 7-8 at home. In the Pistons favor, they are 7-3 over their last 10 games, showing their overall game has started to improve. The total is listed as 192 ½.
Kings at Heat
Is this one even worthy of discussion? NBA odds show the Heat as 13 ½ point favorites. They have won their last six games by at least 12 points. The Sacramento Kings are 3-16 on the road. The only surprise would be if the Heat do not cover the spread, but their record over the last six games borders on superhuman. Total: 203 ½.
76ers at Grizzlies
This is the toughest game of the night to call. The odds list the 76ers as the 1 point favorites with the total at 179. The Sixers are trying to snap a three game losing streak on a very tough stretch in their schedule. The Grizzlies have won four of their last five games, dropping their most recent one in Houston on Monday.
Spurs at Trail Blazers
The final game of the night features the Trail Blazers as 4 point favorites over the Spurs. San Antonio is trying to win their twelfth game in a row, but have lost the last six games in Portland. Tonight may be the night for the Spurs, however, as the Trail Blazers have hit a rough patch, losing four of their last five games at home. Take the Spurs on this one, as they should be able to snap their losing streak against the Blazers in Portland. The total is set at 189 ½.
