NBA betting handicappers consider Portland a great comeback story while the Spurs have long been one of the most popular teams to bet on basketball with. It was not all that long ago that the Portland Trailblazers were amongst the least appealing teams in all of NBA betting.
That is no longer the case, however, as those who bet on basketball now have Portland at or near the top of their lists.
In fact, Portland’s amazing turn around from the “Jail Blazer” days to now has actually harmed their overall NBA betting value in some ways because too much of the general public has taken notice and sent gambling dollars their way.
Portland had an overall NBA betting record of 34-20 straight up but was just 26-27 against the spread, which is indicative of their lack of value.
The Blazers did get a much needed NBA betting win on February 20 over Atlanta 108-98 as 4.5-point home favorites, which halted a bad NBA betting slide in which the Blazers had lost 5 out of 6 games against the spread. Portland has not been a good NBA betting commodity on the road as they were just 10-17 against the spread.
They were also just 8-12 against the number as a dog. Brandon Roy has been the major reason for Portland’s NBA betting success as he was averaging 22.8 points per game. Portland’s 9th ranked defense was their strength and the main reason for their emergence as a playoff contender.
San Antonio alarmed those who bet on basketball when the season started as they fell flat on their face out of the gate but have since pulled themselves together for a first place standing in the southwest division. The Spurs 83-79 win at Detroit as 1-point dogs was their 7th NBA betting win in 10 games but just the 2nd under posted in that 10 game stretch. San Antonio has not been a good NBA betting value at home as proven by their mark of 10-14-1 against the spread.
