Bet on the NBAAfter tonight, the next big thing in NBA basketball betting will be the 2011 All-Star game.
The Bulls-Spurs matchup tonight is the biggest game leading up to the break, but the All-Star weekend is always a fun time in the NBA, as the best and most popular players come out to have fun and enjoy some friendly competition.
This year, All-Star weekend will be held in Los Angeles at the Staples Center, home of the LA Clippers. On Saturday night, the slam dunk competition will be held, and – no surprise here! – Blake Griffin is expected to win it. Rookie power forward Griffin is a home crowd favorite with the Clippers and should put on quite a show in the Slam Dunk Contest.
Second in popularity on Saturday night will be the Three-Point Shootout an will feature some of the best long range shooters in professional basketball. Predicting the winner of this competition is a little more difficult, as there is no popular favorite. Last year, Boston Celtics' Paul Pierce was the winner, but has been having some foot and hand injuries this year. His teammate Ray Allen is the current favorite, and had won the Three-Point Shootout in 2001 when he played with the Milwaukee Bucks.
The Stars versus Legends game will also provide ample opportunities to bet on basketball. Will Justin Bieber score the first points for the celebrities team? Or will Magic Johnson and some of the other players from the past shut down Bieber? Either way, this game should make for some interesting betting opportunities, as well as being a fun game to watch.
The All-Star weekend is traditionally a time when previously fierce competitors can come together for a weekend and just have fun enjoying the game of basketball. The actual All-Star game is little more than a showcase for the more popular players in the league, who all go easy on each other (after all, who wants to get injured during a non-regulation game?) and show off for the crowd.
