Bet on the NBADirk Nowitzki and company will be visiting New Orleans in the hope to stregthen their campaign of defending the NBA crown.
The game will be held in the home turf of the Hornets, at 8pm Eastern time. After the All-Star break the Mavericks have experienced a 2 game losing skid.
The misfortunes started last Tuesday when Dallas experienced a heart breaking lost against the New Jersey Nets (93-92) at home. The succeeding game got even worst against the Grizzlies when main man Dirk Nowitzki have to be sidelined and eventually left the game early 2nd quarter due to back pains. Memphis had the upper hand (96-85). During the press conference, coach Carlisle stated that the possibility of Dirk playing on this Friday's game is unsure. If that's the case then the rest of the guys MUST step up!
The New Orleans Hornets, on the other hand, have also experienced some defeats after the All-Star weekend. Their chances of getting a slot in playoffs is already fading as the team is still at the lowest end in the Western Conference standings. The Hornets being short on manpower as Eric Gordon and Emeka Okafor are out due to injuries, must rely on team's chemistry to take the "W". Trevor Ariza and former All-Star Chris Kaman must take the leadership roles of the team.
The odds are definitely with the Mavericks for they have been proven to be a winner in the past. They're also a playoff-caliber team, able to play under pressure. The sportsbook agrees, listing the Mavs as the -5 1/2 point favorites, with a total at 176 1/2. Let's see if the Hornets can deliver as the team still has a lot of rebuilding to do. With Dirk out in this game, there's a big chance of defeating Dallas if the Hornets will rely on teamwork.
Will Dallas reign supreme and beat the underdog in New Orleans? Or will the Hornets beat the odds and defend their home against the powerhouse Mavericks team? Let's find out this Friday.
