Bet on the NBALos Angeles takes off from the Golden State to head for the wild west of Texas as they meet the San Antonio Spurs for the second time in a week tonight in the AT&T Center beginning at 9:30ET. The game is the second half of an ESPN doubleheader.
The Lakers suffered a crushing defeat to the Spurs on Tuesday 112-91, albeit, without Kobe Bryant. On Wednesday, the Lakers took the short ride north to the bay area to play the Warriors. With Bryant once again, among the missing, Pau Gasol registered a triple double of 22 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists in a 99-87 victory. A resurgent Andrew Bynum scored 31. He was even 7 for 7 in free throws.
The Lakers outshot the Warriors 28-10 from the charity stripe. Metta World Peace continued to perform well this month, with 18 points and 9 assists. It marks five games in a row he has scored in double figures. Los Angeles outrebounded the Warriors 55-40 and lead by as many as 23.
The Lakers lead their NBA L.A. counterpart Clippers by just one game in the standings. Their overall record is 40-23, but only 15-16 on the road.
Now here comes the Spurs again! After meeting in L.A., the two teams were not that far apart on Wednesday as San antonio made a visit to Sacramento, while the Lakers did their thing in Oakland. The Spurs had little trouble dispensing with the Kings 127-102, even with Tim Duncan resting for tonights matchup.
For the most part, all it took were the subs to dispose of Sacramento, as evidenced by reserves Gary Neal and Tiago Splitter leading San Antonio in scoring with 17 points apiece. Splitter also led in rebounds with 7. Tony Parker stuck around long enough to dish off 8 assists. Parker had 29 points against the Lakers on Tuesday and Duncan had 19 and 8 rebounds. San Antonio (45-16) sits atop the Western Conference.
The win stopped a 3 games losing streak for the Spurs versus the Lakers. Tonights contest should be quite different with Kobe Bryant vowing to make his return. The Spurs have been installed by the basketball betting oddsmakers as a 6.5 point home favorite at $110/$100 The over/under is also $110/$100 and set at 203.
