Bet on the NBAThat "other" NBA entry from Los Angeles known as the Clippers, travel to the Lone Star State tonight to face the remaining overall top seed of these playoffs in a Western Conference Semifinals matchup between L.A. and San Antonio. The game at the AT&T Center is scheduled to begin at approximately 9:30ET and can be seen nationally as the second half of a TNT doubleheader following game two of the Pacer at Heat.
This Clippers unit may resemble the bandaged warriors of another group from San Antonio who defended the Alamo. While vowing to be available for this game, Blake Griffen is nursing a very sore knee, which, even if he does play, may affect his usual posterizing power of play. Point guard Chris Paul has a bothersome hip flexor to deal with and Caron Butler is playing with a broken left hand.
These casualties all come off a hard fought seven game series versus Memphis, leaving little time for rest and healing as the team flew directly to Texas following the final victory. In the meantime the Spurs have been sitting by the pool or playing golf for the past week awaitng the Clippers arrival, after having swept away Utah, barely breaking a sweat in the process. Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and even the oft injured Manu Ginobelli should be ready for tonight's contest, with shaking off a little rust, being their main concern.
San Antonio took two of three from the Clippers during the regular season. The only time Los Angeles was able to emerge victorious was while Tony Parker watched from the bench, resting a sore hip on March ninth.
The Clippers were a game under .500 for the 33 road games played during the condensed 66 game regular schedule. The Spurs enter this contest on a 14 game win streak which is among the best of any in NBA semifinal history.
San Antonio is a prohibitive 11.5 point home favorite on a $110/$100 moneyline. The same moneyline holds on the over / under of 190.5 total points.
