Bet on the NBAThe City of Brotherly Love will host game number one tonight of the 2012-13 NBA season when the Denver Nuggets visit to meet the Philadelphia 76ers. The game in Philly's Wells Fargo Center is scheduled to begin at 7:05 PM ET.
Denver was 38-28 last year. Gone from that unit are Arron Afflalo and Al Harrington. They will look to Danilo Gallinari, who is questionable for tonight, and Ty Lawson for scoring after they averaged 15 and 16 points respectively in 2011-12. Much is expected of second year man Kenneth Faried who averaged 16 rebounds as a rookie last year. Tonight's storyline will center on Andre Igoudala's return, who was sent from Philly to Denver as part of the blockbuster Dwight Howard deal this offseason.
Philadelphia, which went 35-31 last season, was also part of the Howard deal in a big way. They acquired center Andrew Bynum from the Lakers. Unfortunately, it is not yet known when Bynum will be able to play, due to lingering knee issues. They also added Jason Richardson who will start at shooting guard tonight. Jrue Holiday returns for his 4th season too.
The Nuggets are 5-2 in their last 7 encounters with the Sixers in Philadelphia. Over their last 10 meetings, the two teams have split the difference, each team winning 5 games. In their last meeting, in January 2012, the Nuggets won 108-104, as 6 point underdogs. In a January 2011 matchup, Philly won 110-99 as 1 ½ point favorites.
The Nuggets are 4-1 ATS against opponents from the NBA Atlantic Division. They are 1-6 ATS over their last 7 games on Wednesdays. The 76ers are 4-1 ATS in Wednesday games, but 1-7-1 ATS against teams from the NBA Northwest Division.
Philadelphia has been installed by BetRoyal sportsbook oddsmakers as a slim 1.5 point (-$110) home favorite. The under/over is 198.5 total points, also on a $110/$100 moneyline.
