Bet on the NBAThe boys of the Big Apple role into the Windy City tonight as the Chicago Bulls play host to the New York Knicks. The game tips off in the United Center at 9:30ET. It can be seen as the second half of an ESPN doubleheader.

Maybe the later than usual start time will benefit the Bulls since they have been getting off to late starts of their own recently. That, and missed free throws have been the two factors haunting Chicago. On Sunday, at Madison Square Garden, it was the Carmelo Anthony show early, often and late.

Much is expected from Anthony during the absences of Amare Stoudamire and Jeremy Lin. He did'nt disappoint the home fans shooting 16 for 31 including 4 three pointers to finish with a season best 43 points. But it was'nt just how he scored but when he scored that made the difference. He tied the game from beyond the arc with 11 seconds remaining in regulation and then won it with another three with 8 seconds on the clock of the overtime period.

New York (29-27) is tied for seventh with Philadelphia in the Eastern Conference with Milwaukee also in the mix for the eighth and final playoff spot. The Knicks are 10-17 away from MSG.

As for the Bulls, Derrick Rose's welcome back party was spoiled against the Knicks, but he has no one to blame but himself ( and maybe Luol Deng ) for the defeat. He and the aforementioned Deng missed two free throws each at the end of regulation that could have sealed the victory. Then Rose launched an air ball before regular time expired. In the OT he had another chance to win it after Melo's three, but was caught too far under the basket and clanked a mini jumper off the back of the rim.

Final score New York 100, Chicago 99. Chicago at 43-14 still own the NBA's best record and lead Miami by 2 games in the East. The Bulls won the first two games versus the Knicks in close contests. They have been particularly efficient against them at home going 17-3 in the last 20.

Chicago is an 8.5 point NBA odds home favorite on a $110/$100 moneyline. The same moneyline holds for the over/under of 186.5.
